Yesterday was our turn to pick up the raw milk from the farm. I piled both girls into the car thinking I was about the take them on a fun and relaxing drive to the countryside to see a real small scale farm. Our trip wasn’t quite as relaxing as I had hoped for, mainly because I got lost and overshot the town by over 10 miles. Then as I was back tracking, Munchkie started screaming and freaking out because she had to pee. I couldn’t stop the car right away since the highway was bordered by steep ditches and didn’t have a shoulder. When I finally was able to pull over, I unbuckled her, pulled off her pants and she just started peeing in mid air, poor thing. She is doing really well with the potty learning, and can hold it for a long time, but this time she had had a lot of coconut water to drink and I am sure it was painful to hold it all in.
By the time we got to the farm, which was beautiful and had so many animals, Zoe was getting cranky because she was hungry and kept asking for McDonald’s that we had seen in town when we drove too far. I took our 10 gallons of milk, and of course one jar broke. Luckily, I didn’t cut my hand and it all spilled into the cooler and not into the trunk of the car. I quickly snapped a few photos of the girls feeding the cute little goats, and then we were on our way back home– with a detour through McDonald’s drive through, which made me feel sick and frazzled for the rest of the day. Driving with two screaming, cranky kids just wasn’t worth it, but the irony of making a 30 mile drive to get healthy raw milk and then ending up eating at one of the most disgusting places you can eat is not lost on me.
Anyway, for the photos!
The goats were so friendly and came right up to the girls.
There were some really cute kittens in the cage that Munchkie enjoyed looking at.
On our way out, we saw a cute calf. I wonder if this is the calf whose mom’s milk we are drinking…?
